AOL Users:

If you have Version 6.0 of AOL, AdsGone works great from the browser within AOL.

If you have Version 7.0 (or newer), AdsGone can only work if you use the Internet Explorer Browser.

Background: AOL decided to frustrate their users who decide to use ad filtering programs. They made some changes in version 7.0 that would hang AOL if certain popup blocking or ad blocking programs were used. This is not really a bug in the popup stoppers but a way for AOL to prevent you from bypassing their ads.

It's time to get a different ISP!

If you must use AOL 7 (or newer):

1. Connect to AOL like you normally do.
2. Minimize AOL when you want to browse the web (don't use the built in browser).
3. Most people have Internet Explorer installed and it's usually an ICON on your Windows Desktop (the blue lower case 'e').
4. Run Internet Explorer (IE) from there (outside AOL) to browse the web.

If you insist on using the Browser in AOL but still like how AdsGone blocks banner ads but can't use it because AOL hangs when popups open:

1. Open AdsGone
2. Uncheck the 'Block Popup Ads' on the 'Ad Blocking / Ad Types' tab.
3. This will let you use AdsGone as a banner ad blocker but it won't block popups.

We're sorry but this is the only way any ad filter program will work with AOL (it's not just AdsGone). If you purchased AdsGone and don't want to use it in this manner, please request a refund by replying with your mailing address (so we can send you a refund check).
